Online Learning
Mario Churchill asked:

If you decide to do a search just on the simple phrase free online learning, your computer will probably flip out on you, there’s only like 50,000 different search results that will come up, free online learning ranges from everything like online classes and courses to free online learning games.

Every web site is different when it comes to the concept of free online learning, one thing is for sure, you have to be specific when it comes to free online learning.’

There is free online learning for real estate, teaching, typing, and those are only the first few search results that I came up with. Isn’t that unreal just how many free online learning sites there are available on the Internet today?

And some of these free online learning web sites are game sites for pre-school children, as well as other game sites that are free online learning sites but for older students as well.

You can achieve free online learning for automotive and anything else you could possibly imagine, even how to pot a plant. I was astonished at all the free online learning results I received, and it was really cool to check some of the free online learning web sites out because I actually learned a few things I didn’t know and had to go back.

Free online learning believe it or not can also include actual college courses or special techniques to doing things like for instance decorating wedding cakes, I think that free online learning site was the best one I seen. Although I don’t think I would have the patience to learn how to do something like that. Either way, it was listed among the many free online learning sites I went too. I didn’t go to all of them obviously but what I did see was impressive.

The Internet can be used for so many things, and free online learning is one of the better attributes of the Internet highway. In my opinion, yeah there are some bad things that go on through the use of the Internet but free online learning isn’t one of those bad things. It just proves that the internet is useful as a tool as well as playing games and sending emails or downloading music.

Free online learning is also in e books that I seen, different things about free online learning you could read about, which sites were rated better than others and why.

I know there are a lot of sites for free online learning now, just about anything that is learnable, oh don’t get me wrong not everything if free on some of the websites we go to, although those web sites that are listed as free online learning web sites usually are, and the games your children can play and learn at the same time while on the Internet just shows that they can do something useful rather than sitting there for hours chatting or playing something they won’t learn a thing from. Free online learning offers a variety of web sites and a wide range of information for people of all ages.

Why Oscars are a Good Choice for a Pet?

oscar
Oscar Lover asked:

Oscars, scientifically known as “Astronotus Ocellatus”, belongs to the Cichlidae family. Some aquarists refer to them as peacock cichlids whilst some refer to them as velvet cichlids, though they are more popularly known simply as Oscars. Compared to other types of pet fishes such as goldfish, koi, barbs or other smaller fishes, the Oscar Fish is a better bet if you wish to have an enjoyable time with your pet fish.

Oscars have beautiful markings on their bodies – usually bright orange spots against a jet black body. The highlight of the orange spots would be the “ocellatus” or “eye spot”, which is a distinctive round rim near the base of the tail. With the right amount of lighting and dark coloured background for the aquarium, this fish would be very striking indeed as they swim from end to end.

The other feature of the Oscars would be its apparent intelligence compared to other fishes. Whilst fishes such as goldfish, koi and barbs swim aimlessly in an aquarium, the Oscar seems to have a greater purposiveness in their actions. They swim in a manner as if they were more aware of what is going around their surroundings. This particular trait is a joy to watch as they seem to be exploring their surroundings with interest.

Oscars are also inexpensive to purchase and quite easy to manage. Just give them enough room to roam and you should be able to grow it to the size of 1 foot given the right conditions. With recorded lifespans of up to 15 years in aquarium conditions, Oscars are truly worth considering as a pet for the home.

Dating Sites
Mr Online Dating asked:

Did you think that the more online dating sites you’re on the better the outcome would be for you? Well, think again. Here is a great example of too much of a good thing.

A really close friend of mine did just that. In fact, she had her profile on seven sites. She was assuming that being on more online dating sites would increase her chances of finding Mr Right. However, she was always complaining about how she had to reply to too many emails and worse, she would always get confused about which potential date was best and who was who.

At first I admired her for being so dedicated but after a while she was getting stressed out and she admitted to having made some poor choices due to getting so confused and busy keeping up with the replies. Why? Well once you get involved with an online dating site (and I recommend you do), you have to keep your profile up to date. That includes your picture – a must have (sometimes several pictures) with most memberships. You can imagine amending and thinking about the changes and work that goes into changing those details over and over. It depicts a nightmare for me. I’d have issues keeping three online dating sites up to date never mind seven…whew!

Well, here’s what happened. She’s such a good friend, I decided to do some investigative research (look around a bit on the net). I was pleased to discover that a combination of the latest findings indicate the most successful outcomes from online dating sites come from users who commit to just the one online dating site. They dedicate all their attention to that one online dating site. They also do some research before selecting the online dating site that suits them best. That makes sense…right!

The big plus here is that people who are interested in you know where to find you. If they find you on too many online dating sites, well, that can add a desperation element to your profile. You don’t want that!

You can also fish around to see how many people are registered with the online dating site and what kind of quality control they have in place. Don’t join the first online dating site that you come to because the chances are you could do better. Good online dating sites are often promoted well and your single friends may well be able to recommend one they like.

Whatever you decide to do, don’t be like my friend and join a whole bunch of online dating sites. You’ll come unstuck and lose focus (like she did for a while). I showed her what I had learned and she decided to close all of her memberships and start again. Guess what! She is now dating with a clear head and as a result has met some really hot guys.

By the way, this same information applies to guys as well. In fact, most of the people interviewed were in fact guys which shows that the same rule applies to both sexes….I didn’t tell her that part - she’d kill me if she knew.

Sticking with one online dating site will save you time, money and trouble. Your chances of finding a partner are actually much higher when you stay with the one online dating site. Ditch all those other memberships now.

How Do Cigars Get Rated?

Monday, September 17th, 2007
Cigars
Garson Smart asked:

The cigar ratings supplied by publications like Cigar Magazine and Cigar Aficionado form an important part of the modern cigar industry. For cigar smokers, these ratings provide guidance in a crowded market.

As pressed-for-time moviegoers may look to Roger Ebert for guidance at the multiplex, smokers use the magazines’ ratings to cut down on their in-store browsing time. For cigar makers, meanwhile, the ratings can be the touch of life - or the kiss of death. When Cigar Aficionado gave a high rating to a Fuente Spanish Lonsdale cigar, the magazine’s imprimatur helped to cause a run on the brand, rendering it scarce and highly sought-after and increasing the profile of Fuente’s cigars in general. Every cigar maker covets a 90-or-higher rating from these influential judges.

But where do these numbers actually come from? For staffers at Cigar Aficionado, the reviewing process starts at the store. While music and book reviewers are often given free “review copies” of CDs or books (a practice that makes things convenient for the reviewer, but also diminishes his or her independence), Cigar Aficionado tries to buy cigars at close to retail prices.

This leads to big cigar bills for the magazine - but it also means the cigars they review are as much like the ones you buy at the store as is possible. (Unlike CDs or books, of course, every cigar is slightly different in composition and taste.) Sometimes, if a cigar is hard to find in stores, the magazine will request “review cigars”; ditto for cases when the magazine is trying to preview a cigar before it hits stores.

The members of the panel - all of them longstanding magazine staffers - are told nothing about the identity, price range, source, or country of origin of the cigar. A “tasting coordinator” - not a member of the panel - removes the cigar’s band so that it cannot be identified by the panel’s members.

The blank, anonymous cigar is then assigned a number so that its identity can be retrieved after it’s rated. The members of the tasting panel then retire, separately, to their offices to smoke the cigars without consulting each other. Each member of the panel assigns the cigar a certain number of points, based on its performance in any of four categories.

First of all, cigars are rated by APPEARANCE and CONSTRUCTION. Is the cigar visually pleasing? Is the wrapper smooth, or wadded-looking? Is it moist to the touch or dry? Does it stay firm? Is it veiny or soggy? After all, a great-tasting cigar that wilts the minute you take it out of the box, or looks too unappetizing to be placed in someone’s mouth, does smokers no good. Cigars can win up to 15 points in this category for being well-made and attractive.

Secondly, of course, the cigar is rated on its FLAVOR - a category that carries with it 25 of the possible 100 points. Who needs a good-looking but brackish cigar? Cigars should not taste bitter or leave a nasty aftertaste. Both taste and aftertaste should be smooth but full, complicated, and rich.

A maximum of 25 points can be won for various qualities ranged together under the general heading of SMOKING CHARACTERISTICS. How does it burn? Is it hard to light? Does it burn one-sidedly? Will the smoke burn your mouth, or feel cool and comfortable as it should? How hard do you have to pull to get a mouthful? All these questions and more are considered.

Finally, the tasters each give a score (up to 35 points) for OVERALL IMPRESSION. (Flavor counts most here.) Is the cigar good, bad - or great? And the question utmost in any dedicated smoker’s mind - is it worth the money? The panel’s various scores in each category are averaged and a final score is the result.

Ratings, of course, are always subjective, depending on individuals’ taste - even if those individuals have well-developed, highly educated tastes. Your mileage may vary. For any smoker, the ultimate authority should always be your own tastebuds!

Organic Baby Products for Your Expected Bundle of Joy

Thursday, September 13th, 2007
Baby Products
Dori Schwaiger asked:

Lean towards “green” when it comes to choosing the right baby products for your child.

The impending birth of a child is indeed a great expectation. Nature has been kind to us in the fact that she has given us nine long months to prepare for this life altering occasion. From your first visit to the doctor to confirm your pregnancy to your anticipated hospital visit to give birth there is a long list of things to do before the arrival of your child. Whether this is your first or your fifth child rest assured that your need of new organic baby products and services will be as unique as the precious life you carry within.

The baby product industry has reinvented itself to cater to the needs of a new generation of parents that are extremely read read on the subject of child birth and are indeed more environmentally conscious when it comes to planning for their child’s future and deciding what baby products will be purchased to care for their newest member of the family. With a large emphasis of organic, green baby products to burst on the marketing scene everything from disposable Eco-green diapers to natural raw cotton baby clothes and bedding are available in most stores and online Eco-conscious green websites and the good news is that these products do not cost much more than their inferior counterparts.

With the ever looming problem of imperfect imports from china and other unregulated markets that lack the stringent guidelines of the United States and other quality European countries new parents today must be more vigilant then ever before when it comes to making the right baby product choices. The joy of picking out your child’s baby stroller, baby crib, toys, bottles and clothes has all been daunted with the fear of chemical dyes that come in the form of dangerous life threatening carcinogens that are found in plastics, paint finishes and cloth fibers that may come in contact with tender new skin and cause harmful rashes and side effects to newborns. It is important to arm yourself with the proper knowledge as to where, when and how the products you choose for your family were made

Five major ingredients to avoid when purchasing baby products:

Phthalates - Chemicals found in most mainstream consumer products. They are found in soft plastic toys, such as bath toys for babies. They are also found in baby powders, baby shampoos, lotions and fragrance.

Mineral Oil - One of the most commonly used products on babies and potentially the most dangerous.Serious carcinogens can be found in mineral oil. Mineral oil, also known as baby oil, can cause dehydration to a babies skin by blocking the absorption of natural moisture.

Lanolin - Often used for moisturizing or diaper cream may cause an allergic contact skin rash. Lanolin, derived from sheep also contains pesticides that were used on sheep and wool products

Cornstarch - Not recommended for use on yeast related diaper rashes, cornstarch encourages the growth of yeast that will perpetuate diaper rash instead of cure it.

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate - Before you buy baby shampoo, think again. Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is mainly used to create foam in bath and body products. It can cause irritation to a babies scalp as well as penetrate an infants eyes and systemic tissue this is of concern to babies who are under going substantial eye growth.

Most ingredients found in popular name brand adult and infant skin care products are extremely harmful to delicate and sensitive new skin. When you make the conscious decision to purchase pure, natural, organic baby products for your baby you are investing in their good health and giving them the best gift of all, a good start in an otherwise polluted world.

Exemplary Online Learning

Online Learning
Richard Keir asked:

Copyright 2005 Richard Keir

As the demand, and supply, for online learning and distance learning of all kinds continues to increase, it’s fascinating to look at what a fully developed and highly acclaimed online university is like.

The University of Phoenix is a relatively new institution. Founded less than 30 years ago (in 1976), it was not only one of the first accredited universities to provide complete degree programs as an online college, but it has now become the leader in the field in the United States.

The size of their operation is astonishing. They’ve developed into the largest accredited university in the United States. Here are some of the numbers they provide: more than 17,200 instructors, 163 campus locations and learning centers in 33 states, Puerto Rico, Canada and now Mexico, and over 171,600 earned degrees since 1976. They provide, naturally, world spanning online learning through the internet.

Their curriculums are developed by working with industry and business in order to provide the skills and knowledge that are in demand. Focused on providing not only the content needed by today’s professionals and businesses, they continue to upgrade their formats and methods as well as their curriculums.

An innovative program put in place by the University of Phoenix is called FlexNet. Rather than being a purely online learning experience, a portion of each course is held at a campus or learning center location. For many this feature adds a sense of personal and community involvement, giving the student a chance to interact directly with instructors and classmates.

Courses at the University of Phoenix Online are concentrated. Students need to be willing to make a serious commitment.

While online learning courses vary they tend to have certain features in common. In today’s hectic environment, the ability to flexibly schedule your hours is critically important for many prospective students. Being confined to fixed hours in a fixed location for a traditional offline course just won’t work for many. The demands of work and family too often cause missed classes.

Traditional college education may also involve taking subjects with little application to the professional’s working life. Online education can allow you complete a degree in two or three years.

In many online college environments, all your courses will be focused on your professional needs. Generally, you’ll also be able to focus on one course at a time rather than having to split your attention among several over a long period. This intensity and focus can be a significant benefit.

Since most online and distance learning is oriented toward professionals, working people, generally the materials you’ll study will be up-to-date and can be used immediately in your working environment. This combination of studying things that you can implement, materials relevant to your work, can make online learning a uniquely rewarding and pleasant way to earn a degree.

You do want to make sure that wherever you decide to study, that it is accredited and that any degree or certification in a field that requires licensure or state certification will be accepted by your state. If your employer has an educational reimbursement plan, be sure to verify that the college or university you chose will be acceptable. In some cases, part of your expenses may also be tax-deductible. Accreditation is important not only for employer acceptance, but also if you are going to seek scholarship funds to help with the cost.

The University of Phoenix is not the only place offering online learning, but it does give you a pretty good introduction to what’s possible. They offer everything from AA degrees to Doctoral programs with a large variety of specialized Bachelor of Science and Master’s degrees as well as professional certifications and non-degree courses. You can explore their offerings at http://www.phoenix.edu/ .

With today’s demands for highly educated and specialized professionals, the value of online learning has never been clearer. The fast paced and mobile lifestyles so common now demand solutions that can fit into our lives, not ones that require us to squeeze into them and disrupt our careers and families for 3 or 4 years. The growth and acceptance of online education makes it virtually certain that you can find a program and a university or college that offers what you need to get ahead - and a way to fit it into your life.
