| Boone and Astros agree to one-year deal December 19, 2008 05:07:25Free agent Aaron Boone agreed Thursday to a $750,000, one-year contract with the Houston Astros.
Boone played for the Washington Nationals last season, hitting .241 with six homers and 28 RBIs.

| Yanks introduce Sabathia, Burnett to NY media December 18, 2008 20:28:38The New York Yankees have finalized their contracts with free-agent pitchers CC Sabathia and A.J. Burnett.
The pair reached preliminary agreements last week, with Sabathia getting a $161 million, seven-year contract and Burnett an $82.5 million, five-year deal. Sabathias agreement is a record amount for a pitcher.

| Maddux to announce retirement Monday December 6, 2008 00:21:54Greg Maddux is all done.
The four-time Cy Young winner will announce his retirement Monday at the baseball winter meetings in Las Vegas.
Maddux turns 43 in April. He is eighth on the career wins list with 355, and went 8-13 last season with the San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers.

| Jang second Korean-born player in Angels system December 5, 2008 23:59:47The Los Angeles Angels agreed to terms with South Korean pitcher Jang Pil-Joon on a minor league contract on Friday.
The 20-year-old Jang became the second Korean-born player in the Angels system, joining right-hander Jung Young-il, who was signed in 2006.

| Braves sign veteran free-agent catcher Ross December 5, 2008 23:46:57The Atlanta Braves added catching depth by signing free agent David Ross to a two-year, $3 million deal on Friday.
His agent, Ryan Gleichowski, said Ross will earn $1.4 million in 2009 and $1.6 million in 2010 in base salary. Ross can make an additional $300,000 in performance bonuses each season based on games played.
Ross, a 31-year-old Georgia native, likely will replace Corky Miller as the primary backup to starter Brian McCann.

| Feds drop 4 counts against Barry Bonds December 5, 2008 01:40:03Federal prosecutors have dropped four counts of lying to a grand jury against Barry Bonds, leaving him to face trial next year on 10 counts of making false statements plus an addition obstruction of justice charge.
Bonds faces the same potential sentence range - probation to roughly two years in prison - if convicted. His trial is scheduled to begin March 2.
