Staat u wel een stil bij het energieverbruik van uw computer? Als u nu een computer heeft met een wat oudere Pentium 4 processor (deze staan bekend om het hoogste energieverbruik) dan kan het heel goed zijn dat deze 200 Watt vermogen verbruikt. Stel dat u deze als server gebruikt of als stand-alone die continue aanstaat, dan betekent dit dat deze computer alleen al op jaarbasis: 200 Watt x 24 uur x 365 dagen = 1752 kWh verbruikt! Het is dus heel duidelijk; de grootste energiebesparing is te halen bij apparaten die 24 uur aan staan.

Een eenvoudig rekensommetje laat zien dat een PC die 24 uur aanstaat meer aan elektriciteit kost dan in aanschaf: 1752 kWh x € 0,20 = € 350,40 x 3 jaar (gemiddelde afschrijving PC) = € 1051,20!

De prestatie van deze processor is een tikkie (ca 3%) onder de LE1150 die op 2 ghz draait, aangezien de LE1150 volgens onderstaande benchmark duidelijk boven de Pentium 4 3,06 ghz en de Athlon XP3200 zit, mogen wij ervanuitgaan dat de LE1100 vergelijkbaar is met een Pentium 4 op 3 ghz.

LET OP: laat u niet misleiden door de lage klokfrequentie van deze processor; de architectuur van deze nieuwere processoren is grotendeels gelijk aan de veel duurdere core 2 duo en fundamenteel anders dan de oudere pentium IV en Pentium D (dual core) processoren, en daarom een stuk sneller! For a $95 (USD) processor, the Intel Pentium E2140 put up a surprisingly solid performance, which is a testament to the overall value of this chip. Albeit under a new name, Intel is finally moving their Conroe dual-core architecture down to the budget markets, bringing true modern dual-core performance to low-end systems, which is something everyone can appreciate.

In terms of raw performance, the Pentium E2140 only runs about 10% slower in most cases than the cheapest Intel Core 2 Duo processor, the E6300, which is impressive considering it has a lower clock speed and half the cache.
